Ukrainians have determination, readiness to go to the end and perseverance in the struggle. All of these are necessary for victory first of all. No matter how the citizens of Ukraine would like to think that this is a guarantee of victory, it is not so. Unfortunately, now, the Armed Forces of Ukraine completely depends on the supply of weapons. This is exactly what will be discussed during the EU-NATO-Ukraine meeting.
Who will decide the fate of Ukraine this time
On February 21, representatives of the three parties will be present at the meeting:
- from the EU –the representative for foreign affairs and security policy Josep Borrell;
- from NATO – Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg;
- from Ukraine – Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba.
The main issue is the accelerated supply of ammunition to Ukrainian territories.
Main problem
In recent weeks, the Russian army has been shelling on average 15 000 times a day. In order to be able to hold their positions and resist the onslaught, the Armed Forces of Ukraine must fight back at approximately the same level. However, at the moment, there is a certain dissonance: the guns are available, but there is no ammunition for them.
Therefore, the topic of providing ammunition is rightly considered critical. First of all, it is:
- 155 mm ammunition caliber;
- 152 mm ammunition caliber.
Currently, this Is the most serious problem of the Ukrainian army, which requires urgent consideration. If it is not resolved in the near future, the end of the war in favor of Ukraine will be under a big question.
How can it be solved?
The mechanisms for solving these issues will be the following proposed options:
- To receive funding for the purchase from the Peacebuilding Opportunities Fund;
- To develop joint actions for the purchase between the European Defence Agency and the European Commission;
- To develop a plan to involve partner countries in providing parts of what they have in warehouses.
The day before, Josep Borrell said that if these issues are not resolved, the outcome of the war will be in danger. However, now there is a willingness to cooperate and find the most profitable offers.
