Equipment is made from metal, but not people: the USA will provide new weapons for a counterattack in exchange for destroyed ones

At the beginning of the counterattack, information about the destruction of modern equipment provided to the Armed Forces of Ukraine by Western partners during the war became widespread in the news. Some sources said that such losses could potentially hinder the success of the counterattack. As you know, there’s no smoke without fire. But it is necessary to understand how serious the situation is at the moment and whether the Ukrainian counterattack is really at risk.

Special features of the attack

The majority hoped that the counterattack would take place according to the scheme of autumn de-occupations when it was possible to win back significant territories in a short period of time. A big role in this was played by the fact that the Russians were retreating because they did not have well-prepared fortifications for defense.

This time the situation is completely different: the Russian army was preparing in places for about 8 months. In areas where a breakthrough is possible, a number of measures have been created:

– trenches, sometimes tens of kilometers long;

– strongholds;

– minefields;

– artillery positions.

All positions are targeted in advance by Russian artillerymen, so it is difficult to break through them without aviation. At the same time, the air forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are exhausted by months of fighting. The lack of ammunition in the Russian army, which has been observed in recent months, has turned out to be one of the points of accumulation of weapons for effective defense.

Therefore, every 100 meters of the returned territory is given with significant losses. Modern Western equipment is also being destroyed, and this did not come as a surprise to the military command on both sides. However, the mass media picked up on the information, especially those who deliberately carry out IPSO.

Help is coming

Meanwhile, the USA said it was ready to provide additional aid in the amount of $325 million. For the most part, these will be Stryker and Bradley armored vehicles. With their help, it will be possible to replace what is out-of-service.

In addition to armored vehicles, missiles for NASAMS and HIMARS will be provided too.
