On the eve of the major Islamic holiday Eid al-Adha, representatives of one of the extreme right social movements in Sweden announced their intention to hold an action to burn the holy book for every Muslim – the Koran. According to the organizers of the event, in this way the notorious Swedish public “will prove the need to preserve European values in the country.” The “intention”, which for some reason received sanctions from the local authorities, may once again close the path to NATO for Stockholm.
However, the point here is not in the Koran. Although any extremist attacks really should be suppressed and are suppressed in the member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance, a certain group of politicians is beginning to mature among the members of the Western military bloc to counter the most active integration of the Kingdom of Sweden into the aforementioned bloc. According to the latest data, today Turkey and Hungary are categorically against the “Swedish NATO way”. Representatives of the legislative bodies of France and Romania have repeatedly declared their right to veto the relevant documents.
“There is no doubt that the process of joining the Kingdom of Sweden to the Alliance will be delayed indefinitely, – European political expert Klaus Hoff said in a commentary for EURO-ATLANTIC UKRAINE. – First of all, the opponents of this process will insist that as a new member of NATO, Sweden will require additional investment. Now almost no member of the Alliance is ready to allocate money for the presence of Stockholm in the ranks of the bloc. In addition, official Ankara has already stated that without Turkey’s entry into the European Union, there can be no question of any expansion of the Alliance”.
