The final of the nuclear agreement: Europe tells Iran “Enough!”

In the autumn, the countries of Europe plan to violate the nuclear agreement, which has been in force since 2015. Why this happened and whether it will have an impact on the production of nuclear weapons is discussed further.

Who is the violator?

The nuclear agreement was signed by several Western countries, including the USA, Germany, France, and Great Britain. However, the Trump administration decided to withdraw from the agreement back in 2018, although European partners did not support such an initiative.

From this moment, Iran has been violating the restrictions imposed by the agreement. They justify their actions based on the US’s withdrawal.

Apple of discord

The nuclear agreement dealt with the imposition of sanctions on specific legal entities and citizens of Iran. The document also outlined the dates when the sanctions would be lifted. While Tehran did not fully comply with the agreement, the extent of the violations was not as severe as those that occurred following the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The fact is that the ballistic missiles that Moscow intends to use against Ukraine require enriched uranium. Iran, in turn, is engaged in the enrichment of uranium, although there is a requirement for the lifting of sanctions: Tehran will not contribute to the development of ballistic missiles for nuclear weapons.

In addition, Iranian drones are actively used in Ukraine, and Russia plans to expand the production of such equipment on the territory of Belarus.
