Today, July 26, the Committee on Oversight of the House of Representatives of the highest legislative body of the United States begins a discussion on the possibility of the existence of alien civilizations in the universe. According to official information, the meeting will be attended by dozens of governors from various regions of the United States, as well as some well-known politicians. In this regard, representatives of the Congress asked the participants of the event, as well as the American and international community, to approach the issue “with the utmost seriousness.”
“To approach this topic extremely seriously” did not work, first of all, among American analysts. Critical materials appeared in the local press, the essence of which boils down to the phrase “Do we have any more other problems?”. But, as legal practice shows, this topic also has the right to be considered and discussed.
First of all, because a few weeks ago, former US counterintelligence officer David Grush made a statement in which he indicated literally the following: the US government has irrefutable information about UFOs. They say that not only downed flying objects of “extraterrestrial production” are stored in the caches of the special services, but also fragments of the bodies of humanoids. This statement made a real sensation in American society. “For the first time since the fifties of the last century, people began to retell various stories about “flying saucers”, look for the opportunity to communicate with other civilizations in space and even build landing sites for alien ships, – New York columnist William Connolly said in a commentary for EURO-ATLANTIC UKRAINE . – Now the main goal of congressmen is to reassure the layman”.
Whether this will work is not yet known. It is curious that on the eve of the representative of the Republican Party from Tennessee Tim Burchet, who, along with Florida Republican Senator Anna-Paulina Luna, is leading the hearing, posted a tweet with a picture from the cult film The X-Files. Against this background, the speaker of the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, in his best traditions, joked: “If aliens existed, the US Department of Defense would certainly require additional funds from the state budget to study the issue”.
But White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby advised American politicians and opinion leaders to take the discussion “extremely seriously”. “Nothing can be denied or unambiguously stated, – he emphasized, in particular. – The issue requires a detailed approach on all its points”.
It should be especially noted that at the moment, none of the experts can say how exactly the implementation of this parliamentary initiative will end. Say, the possible recognition by congressmen of the presence of unidentified flying objects at secret American military bases does not mean the fact of the existence of aliens. And vice versa – the denial of Grush’s information will by no means induce Washington to divulge the X-Files.
