The North Atlantic Alliance has all the necessary financial and technical capabilities to continue to provide full support to Kyiv. NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana announced this on October 20. According to him, the situation in the Middle East will in no way affect contacts between Ukraine and the Western military bloc. Moreover, Ukrainian and Israeli beneficiaries will be able to count on jointly receiving the next tranche of funds. Is it true?
It should be noted that the Deputy Secretary General of the Alliance made his statement after lengthy consultations with his immediate superior Jens Stoltenberg and US President Joseph Biden. By the way, during the dialogue, the first of them noted the need to expand assistance to Kyiv and Tel Aviv within the framework of partnership programs, and the second suggested developing a “unique and more effective scheme” for this support.
As Joanne himself emphasized, NATO really does have such a scheme. Moreover, its essence boils down to the formula “The fight against Russian influence plus the eradication of terrorism.” “The 32 countries of the Alliance account for more than 50 percent of the world’s GDP,” he stated in particular. “We have enough resources to finance Ukraine’s war against the Russian Federation, without experiencing problems with allocating money to Israel for an anti-terrorist operation.” And he added that Moscow’s hopes that after the events in the Middle East the West would “switch” exclusively to supporting Tel Aviv did not come true.
Let us recall that earlier the United States and the EU almost unanimously promised not to stop military assistance to Ukraine against the backdrop of the tragedy in Israel. They say that the necessary money and weapons will be supplied to both states. And to Kyiv – even in larger volumes than before.
It seems that in this context it is indeed NATO’s turn. “It is absolutely obvious that the Alliance will make a beautiful gesture of goodwill here, and by the end of this year will provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with another batch of high-quality equipment,” European observer Klaus Hoff summed up in a special commentary for EURO-ATLANTIC UKRAINE.
What and how much exactly Ukraine will receive from the Alliance is still unknown. According to some data, we are talking about multi-billion dollar transfers and supplies. There are fewer and fewer doubts that they will be implemented every day.
