NATO leaders recently warned that the North Atlantic Alliance is not ready for a direct war with the Russian Federation, although its probability is increasing every month. So, the countries bordering Russia or Belarus, which is militarily integrated into Russia’s military structure, have to prepare themselves. Obviously, this is precisely what Poland decided to do. This became known from the statement of the Minister of Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz. He spoke about why he believes that his country must move to active actions.
The head of the Polish Ministry of Defense gave an interview with the newspaper “Super Express,” in which he said he was considering various options for developing the situation in Ukraine without rejecting the worst scenario. Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that this is his direct duty as a person holding the position of Minister of Defense.
The statement is not impulsive because the man insists that he takes such statements very seriously, based on actual facts and the need to be prepared for the worst.
What are they already doing?
Preparations for a possible attack from Russia are already underway by the Ministry. Firstly, there is an analysis of the available weapons to identify gaps. Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz believes that procurement of everything necessary jointly with European partners is essential. This is equipment and shells that require space sums.
However, the level of individual equipment for each serviceman cannot be underestimated, and the responsibility for providing its soldiers falls on Poland.
At the same time, the Minister of Defense insists on Poland’s exceptional role in Europe’s public defense. One way or another, Polish territories will be among the first to take the hit. The European Commission is also aware of this.
Nobody wants to believe
Even those Poles who try not to worry about political news and the growing military threat see signs that tensions are really rising. For example, a few days ago in Poland, a navigational warning for civil aviation about the danger on the eastern border began to operate due to the high activity of military aircraft, which is caused by the threat in the border areas.
An example of such a situation was the morning of February 7, when Russia attacked six regions of Ukraine. After the notification of the movement of a Russian missile toward the border with Poland, the Operational Polish Command raised military aircraft into the air. This is far from the first time, and it is clear that there will be more and more such cases over time. Therefore, the statements of the Minister of Defense look quite logical and timely.
