President of France Emmanuel Macron has decided to leverage his close relationship with Chinese leader Xi Jinping to influence Vladimir Putin and end the war in Ukraine.
To achieve this, the first step is to establish personal relations with the Chinese leader, as personal rapport is key to success in any negotiations and diplomatic work. The French President is banking on this strategy.
However, Macron intends not only to expand his personal ties with the Chinese leader during his visit to France but also to urge Xi Jinping to influence Putin to end the conflict. Macron plans to discuss this issue during a dinner in Paris and during visits to France, Serbia, and Hungary. A series of high-level events are planned, showing that the French official is very serious and appears to be making every effort to achieve his goal.
Additionally, Macron aims to attract Chinese investments in the sector of electronic battery production in France. Currently, the French President is actively preparing for a meeting with his Chinese counterpart and is trying to use all the possibilities for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. Doing something positive for his country while resolving the issues of two enemies is a rational decision.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, China has not condemned Russia’s actions or imposed sanctions against it. Instead, China has increased cooperation with Russia, causing concerns in the USA. Washington is ready to impose new sanctions against China if its support for the Russian defense industry is confirmed.
Soon, we will see if Macron succeeds in his planned actions. If successful, it will be a significant step towards European leadership not only for the politician personally but also for all of France, making the effort worthwhile.
