The European Parliament has adopted a resolution on the presidential elections in Russia. They called on EU member states and the international community not to recognize the results of the presidential elections in Russia as legitimate.
The European Parliament was outraged that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban congratulated Putin on his so-called re-election as president. In particular, he then stated that Hungary is ready to expand cooperation with Russia.

In the resolution, the European Parliament calls for limiting contacts with the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin only on matters related to peace, humanitarian, and human rights issues, such as prisoner exchanges, returning children to Ukraine, and releasing political prisoners.
In particular, they were outraged that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban decided to congratulate Putin.
“It is distressing that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has decided to break ranks with the EU and congratulate Vladimir Putin on his sham re-election”, – said in the European Parliament.

- In the resolution, the European Parliament called for sanctions against those involved in organizing and conducting illegal elections in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
