Arrived to Putin’s Inauguration: why representatives of European countries did not ignore this event

Despite expectations, at the festive event on the occasion of Putin’s inauguration, a whole range of diplomatic representatives from different countries, including Europe, “showed up.” Analysts consider this a negative signal for Ukraine. What exactly does it mean and what consequences to expect – read on in the article.

So, among those who “celebrated” the beginning of his new term in office as President of Russia alongside Putin, were representatives of the following countries:

  • France;
  • Hungary;
  • Slovakia;
  • Greece;
  • Malta;
  • Cyprus.

Official representatives from Belgium were also supposed to attend the ceremony, but at the last moment, this country backed out of that decision.

What does this mean

Certainly, this is not a positive signal for Ukraine. Interpreting the presence of diplomatic representatives from other countries means that this is the beginning of forming a coalition that is ready to cooperate with the new/old President of the Russian Federation. The main goal of such cooperation is economic interaction. But political issues should not be disregarded.

For Russia, economic issues are no less crucial, as the country’s financial capability determines its ability to sustain its military-industrial complex and, as a result, continue the war, send its citizens to it, and so on.

Prospects

Despite the fact that a complete restriction of cooperation with Russia would ensure success for Ukraine, not all European countries are willing to go all the way in this regard. Analysts point out: if a full ban on the use of Russian energy resources were imposed, the fall of Moscow would be a matter of a few weeks. But for a number of countries, economic well-being takes precedence. They view the war in Ukraine as a political tool in diplomatic and trade-economic relations with the aggressor state.

Even those who have been supporting Kyiv wholeheartedly since the first day of Russia’s full-scale invasion do not completely cut off ties with Russia. Examples include:

– Poland continues to trade with the Russian Federation;
– France has not stopped its trading operations with Russia.

Therefore, Putin confidently took office again, and Europeans welcomed him with this.
