The European Union is actively discussing the idea of sending military instructors to train Ukrainian soldiers. However, there are concerns in some countries that deploying military instructors might create certain risks. This was stated by the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, after a meeting of defense ministers.
How the Discussion on Sending Military Instructors to Ukraine is Progressing
In the European Union, the possibility of sending military instructors to train Ukrainian soldiers is being actively discussed. Leading EU member states believe that training soldiers directly according to the war scenario, avoiding movements between countries, has its advantages. This would allow the training ecosystem to be better adapted to the real conditions of war, – said Borrell.
Other countries believe that deploying military instructors would create certain risks. Currently, there is no unified position in the European Union. “There are different views, but I cannot say there is a consensus to do this tomorrow. But everything is changing,” he noted.
