Canada Announces New Aid Package
The Canadian government has announced a new military aid package for the Ukrainian army, which includes missile systems, ammunition, and armored vehicles. This announcement was made by Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair, who detailed what the aid package would comprise.
New Aid Package Details
Blair announced the transfer of 2,300 CRV7 attack rockets, previously used on CF 18 fighter jets. “Over the past few months, we have been testing these rockets to ensure their operability following requests from the Ukrainian Armed Forces for this equipment. We continue to test an additional 80,000 CRV7 rockets,” said the Canadian minister. After these tests, the Canadian side plans to transfer even more of these rockets to Ukraine. Additionally, Canada will provide ammunition and 29 Nanuk remote systems, which can be installed on Ukrainian armored vehicles.
What Are Nanuk Remote Systems?
Nanuk is a remote weapon station used for arming light and medium-caliber weapons. It can be integrated onto various armored vehicle platforms and used for different mission profiles. The Nanuk weapon station is fully stabilized, with all-weather long-range day/night sights and a universal weapon mount. It can accommodate machine guns and grenade launchers of various calibers, anti-tank missiles, and CRV7 rockets.
Bill Blair also announced the delivery of 50 armored vehicles, four of which will be sent this week. Additionally, the Ukrainian army will soon receive the first batches of drones from Canada.
Ukraine Receives Aid from Italy
Italy will provide Ukraine with two aid packages. One includes the supply of weapons, specifically the SAMP/T air defense system. The other aid package includes 140 million euros for infrastructure measures, railways, healthcare, the agri-food sector, the humanitarian sector, and demining. The financial aid package also includes funds for the restoration of the Transfiguration Cathedral in Odesa, which was destroyed during enemy shelling.
