At the Peace Summit being held in Switzerland, 80 countries and 4 organizations have already supported the final communique. However, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, India, Mexico, and South Africa have not joined this declaration.
Issues Arise from New Directions
Among those who supported the communique are Hungary, Slovakia, and Turkey. In total, representatives from 101 countries and international organizations from all continents participated in the summit, with two-thirds of the countries being represented at the highest level.
The Office of the President of Ukraine explained that the final communique of the summit will remain open so that other countries that could not attend the conference could join later.
Earlier, Reuters agency published the full text of the declaration, which stated that Ukraine and the IAEA should have control over the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant occupied by the Russians, ensure access to the seaports of the Black and Azov Seas, as well as the release of prisoners through a full exchange.
Will Russia Join
The Global Peace Summit, initiated by Ukraine, began on June 15 at the Bürgenstock resort near Lucerne. This event is based on previous discussions, including the Ukrainian “peace formula” and other peaceful proposals based on the UN Charter and principles of international law.
The Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak noted that Russia may be involved in the process at the Global Peace Summit, but not at the first meeting. President Volodymyr Zelensky added that Russia attempted to disrupt the conference.
