President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is attending the NATO summit in the USA. There, at the Presidential Fund and the Reagan Institute, he made several important statements.
Ukraine wants to destroy Russian aviation on the territory of the Russian Federation
President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the USA to grant permission to Ukraine to destroy Russian aviation on the territory of the Russian Federation. This is necessary to protect Ukraine from constant bombardments with guided air bombs. He reminded that by allowing Ukraine to destroy Russian military objects near Kharkiv region, the USA helped stop the aggressor’s advance in the north of the region.
Zelensky also emphasized that Ukraine will be able to drive out Russian troops from the south with a sufficient amount of long-range weapons.
Second Peace Summit Planned
President Zelensky expressed his desire to hold a second Peace Summit this year and hopes for the support of the USA. He emphasized that Ukraine needs to organize a more powerful and decisive summit to address current challenges. US support on this issue is crucial for Ukraine.
Putin and Plans Regarding Kharkiv
Vladimir Putin wanted to take advantage of the delay in the US Congress regarding new assistance to Ukraine and capture Kharkiv. Currently, Russian forces are shelling the city to force residents to flee. Zelensky noted that Russians strike at Kharkiv residents daily, provoking chaos and attempting to make people flee. To some extent, they succeed.
New Patriot Missile Defense Systems
The President of Ukraine stated that the new Patriot missile defense systems that partners will provide to Ukraine will help, but they are insufficient. Russian forces are using various types of new weaponry, so Ukraine needs additional Patriot missile defense systems.
Attack on “Okhmatdyt”
President Zelensky stated that after the missile attack on the “Okhmatdyt” children’s hospital, where children died, he felt the desire to kill Russian President Vladimir Putin. He emphasized that it was a targeted strike on the hospital and a clear signal to Putin on the eve of the NATO summit.
Need for F-16 Jets
Zelensky noted that Ukraine needs at least 128 F-16 fighter jets to equalize its strength in the sky with the Russians. He stressed that Ukraine’s partners have this information and understand its importance. Even 50 units will not change the situation as Russia uses 300 aircraft daily.
Restoration of 1991 Borders
Zelensky stated that the presence of Russian troops on Ukrainian territory creates risks of a frozen conflict and repeated invasion. The best way to end the war is to organize a second Peace Summit and prepare a plan to pressure Putin.
Statements on Putin, Biden, and Trump
President Zelensky emphasized that Vladimir Putin will equally despise any US president, regardless of election outcomes. Western politicians should not pay attention to Putin’s attitude as the US economy significantly surpasses the Russian economy. He noted that everyone is waiting for the results of the November elections, but action is needed now.
Future US Support After Elections
Zelensky expressed hope that American policy regarding support for Ukraine will not change after the presidential elections. He noted that if Putin is not stopped in Ukraine, he will continue, and the US will have to defend NATO countries.
