Ukrainians are offered interest-free loans for installing solar panels or wind turbines

The Ukrainian government has introduced a series of financial programs aimed at stimulating the development of distributed generation and ensuring energy independence for citizens. Owners of private and multi-apartment buildings are offered favorable conditions to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. The details were presented by the Ministry of Energy on July 22.

New opportunities for Ukrainians

The Ministry of Energy announced that a 0% interest rate financing program is now available for individuals to purchase generators that produce electricity from alternative sources. In addition, there are other programs in place to support homeowners and residential associations in creating their own sources of energy.

More about the programs:

  1. 0% credits for generators from alternative sources:
    • Up to 480,000 hryvnias
    • Term up to 10 years
    • Partners: “Privatbank,” “Oschadbank,” “Ukrgazbank,” “Sens Bank,” “Globus Bank”
  2. “Affordable 5-7-9 credits” for solar panels and other equipment:
    • 7% annual interest rate loans for HOAs and residential cooperative associations
    • Up to 5 million hryvnias
    • Term up to 5 years
    • 46 partner banks
  3. “GreenDIM Program”:
    • Compensation up to 70% of equipment cost
    • Up to 1 million hryvnias for solar power stations
    • Up to 2 million hryvnias for heat pumps
    • Up to 3 million hryvnias for combined installation
  4. Energy Efficiency Fund:
    • “Affordable 5-7-9 credits” for gas turbine, gas piston, and biogas installations
    • Up to 150 million hryvnias
    • Term up to 10 years
  5. Concessional lending for restoration of energy infrastructure:
    • First year – 13.5% per annum or UIRD3M+0.5%
    • From the second year – floating rate, not exceeding UIRD12M + 3%
    • Up to 25 million euros
    • Term up to 5-7 years
    • 19 partner banks

Simplification of regulations

The government has simplified the procedures for construction and connection of small generation facilities to gas, heat, and electric networks. Now this can be done faster and with a minimal set of documents.

It is worth noting that starting from July 20, “PrivatBank” and “Oschadbank” have begun accepting applications for loans to purchase energy equipment under the 0% state program.
