The closing ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris ended with a spectacular performance by Hollywood star Tom Cruise. The 62-year-old actor, known for his daring stunts, decided to stay true to his principles and did something extraordinary. He flew over the Stade de France stadium and expertly landed on the field to be part of the Olympics’ final scene and symbolically pass the torch to Los Angeles, where the 2028 Games will take place.
Age is not a barrier
Tom Cruise, who performs most of his own stunts, once again proved that age is not a limit for him. After his extreme flight, he greeted the athletes and received the Olympic flag from the Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, and Olympic gymnast Simone Biles. Spectators remarked that the performance was simply incredible.
But the show didn’t end there. Giving a ceremonial look to the flag, Cruise attached it to a motorcycle and embarked on a journey that initially unfolded on a huge screen at the stadium.
In the video, the actor, in his iconic black leather jacket, speeds through the streets of Paris, passing by iconic locations such as the Eiffel Tower. The famous song “By the Way” by Red Hot Chili Peppers accompanies the scene. He declared, “I’m on my way,” and then, wearing a parachute pack, headed into the sky.
Across the ocean
The events then transport us to the USA, where Cruise jumps from a plane and lands right by the “Hollywood” sign, where he transforms the letter “O” into Olympic rings, handing the flag to Olympic cyclist Kate Courtney. Together with the flag, she heads to a concert featuring the legendary Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish, and Snoop Dogg, held on Venice Beach.
This grand finale was a true celebration for all participants and a fitting end to the Paris Olympics, while also paving the way for the upcoming Games in Los Angeles.
