In the Pokrovske community of Donetsk region, there are about four thousand children who can be evacuated within one to two weeks. This information was announced by the head of the Pokrovske city military administration, Serhiy Dobryak, during a national telethon on August 19.
Number of Children and Evacuation Pace
Before the full-scale invasion, there were over 13,000 children in the Pokrovske community. As of today, there are 4,083 children remaining in the community living in 1,538 families. Serhiy Dobryak noted that with coordinated efforts, it is possible to evacuate all children within one to two weeks.
Involvement of Local Mines and Acceleration of Evacuation
The process of evacuation involves the local mine management, which is also systematically evacuating the families of its employees. The head of the city administration also reported that recently, residents of the community have started evacuating more actively on their own initiative. While just a week ago an average of 500-540 people were leaving per month, in the past week over 2,000 people have left the community. Currently, the evacuation pace has reached 500-600 people per day, and this trend continues to rise.
Evacuation Destinations and Living Conditions in the Community
The evacuated residents of the community are moving to Rivne, Poltava, and Lviv regions, using trains, buses, and private transport. Despite the challenging situation, the humanitarian situation in the community remains at a satisfactory level. There is water, electricity, gas supply, functioning banking institutions, and social services. However, as Dobryak pointed out, businesses are starting to reduce their activity, and large stores are gradually closing. Nevertheless, all necessary services in the city and community are still operational.
