“Middle Eastern Riviera”: Is a Major Reconstruction of Gaza Possible?

Trump’s Proposal: Revolutionary Idea or Political Adventure?

During a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former US President Donald Trump voiced an idea that sparked a wave of discussions worldwide. He proposed a radical solution for the Gaza Strip — to turn it into a “Middle East Riviera.” According to Trump’s plan, more than one and a half million Palestinians should be resettled to neighboring countries, including Egypt and Jordan, while creating a resort area with hotels, villas, and casinos in place of the devastated region.

Why Has This Idea Faced Criticism?

This proposal, although in line with Trump’s logic as a businessman, has faced harsh criticism. The main arguments against it include:

  • Humanitarian Aspect. The plan involves relocating Palestinians without their consent, which constitutes a violation of international law.
  • Reaction of Neighboring States. Neither Egypt nor Jordan intend to accept Palestinian refugees since it may lead to instability in the region.
  • Political Consequences. Such an initiative threatens to isolate the US diplomatically, especially among Arab countries.

How Has the World Reacted?

The Arab world has viewed Trump’s idea with great caution, while the international community has been surprised. Leaders of other countries have so far avoided strong statements to not conflict with the US. However, if this project is actively pursued, the reaction from the global community could become much harsher.

Does Trump Face Political Isolation?

The “Middle East Riviera” idea seems too radical to be realized without international support. If Trump manages to achieve the long-awaited peace between Israel and Palestine, it could earn him the Nobel Peace Prize. But will he be the one to end a conflict that has lasted for decades?

Even more interestingly, if Trump can help establish a just peace between Ukraine and Russia, perhaps the world will create a reward for him that does not yet exist.
