Russia is intensifying its diplomatic and informational efforts, seeking to change the course of the war against Ukraine not only on the battlefield but also in the realm of international politics. In recent weeks, the administration of the President of the Russian Federation has begun actively restoring contacts with American politicians and representatives of international structures. Phone calls between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, meetings of the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov with American senators, and negotiations of high-ranking officials in Riyadh indicate an attempt by the Kremlin to influence the future policy of the West towards Ukraine.
Russian Conditions for “Peaceful Settlement”
Moscow has developed its own “peace plan,” which essentially implies the capitulation of Ukraine to the aggressor. The main demands of the Kremlin include:
- Cessation of NATO expansion and security guarantees for Russia.
- Legitimization of Russian occupation of Ukrainian territories: Crimea, Donbas, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson region.
- Demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, as an attempt to justify aggression.
- Ukraine’s abandonment of military support from the West.
- Conducting elections in Ukraine under Russian control to legitimize pro-Russian forces.
It is obvious that these conditions are unacceptable not only for Ukraine but also for the entire civilized world, as their implementation would essentially mean the destruction of Ukrainian independence.
Kremlin Strategy: From Diplomacy to a New Wave of Aggression
Russia understands that the West is unlikely to accept such conditions. Therefore, this “peaceful plan” is rather an element of information war, which will allow the Kremlin to:
- Portray Ukraine as a side that “rejects peace”.
- Sow doubts among Western partners about the advisability of further support for Kyiv.
- Create conditions for a new offensive when Ukraine will be exhausted by the information war and a decrease in military assistance.
How to resist Ukraine?
In the conditions of a new phase of information and political aggression from the Kremlin, Ukraine should strengthen its work on the diplomatic front and effectively fight propaganda. Main steps:
- Continuation of military and diplomatic cooperation with the West.
- Counter-propaganda campaign revealing the real intentions of the Kremlin.
- Strengthening internal unity and readiness for a possible new stage of military actions.
Russia continues its attempts to break Ukraine, but our country has already proven its resilience multiple times. The main thing is not to fall for information manipulations and to continue.
