In the EU, they told how much has been raised for the Czech initiative on ammunition for Ukraine

In the European Union, it has been reported how much funding has already been allocated for the Czech initiative on ammunition. This is part of the proceeds from frozen Russian assets.

Regarding the initiative, it is about the fact that the Czech Republic has found ammunition that can be purchased for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A source from 24 Channel reported on the amount in question and what is known about Belgium’s position.

What the EU says about the amount allocated for the Czech initiative

At this point, 200 million euros have already been allocated for the Czech initiative on ammunition. Other support measures will be announced shortly after approval by the government, according to a source from 24 Channel.

In addition, Politico wrote that 200 million euros represent 49% of the proceeds accumulated from frozen Russian assets.

Belgium also believes that 25% of the proceeds from frozen Russian assets should remain in the country. Because currently, according to the state, “nothing is coming into the Belgian treasury.” Other funds will go towards:

  • receiving Ukrainian refugees,
  • humanitarian and medical assistance,
  • assistance for reconstruction.

“This is not a new tax that was ‘levied,’ as I read, but existing tax rules. Belgium has decided to defer fiscal revenues and allocate them to Ukraine. There is absolutely no double counting here. And, of course, it will remain, as it is a general corporate tax, not something ‘invented’ for Ukraine,” the source said.
