Among the descriptions of collections, the phrase that strikes the most is: “And you sow flowers…even if tomorrow is the end of the world…” says the contest organizer Golda Vinohradska. “This is the sign of the strength of the spirit of our professional-technical education in Ukraine, with which we, as an association of industry employers, have been cooperating for over 7 years.”
These are not just talented products, but also stories of the resilience of educational institutions from all regions of Ukraine, reading which brings tears to the eyes:
- “Under no circumstances should we give up, we all will get through one more Day at the Borderline of our lives. Quite literally, at the border of physical and mental resources. We will endure, we will prevail!” (Sumy region)
- “The Ukrainian land weeps and moans, the whole of Ukraine bathes in tears. These feelings were reflected in our collection ‘THE PATH TO VICTORY,’ where dark, black colors are combined as a symbol of pain and sorrow, war and loss, and red, yellow colors as symbols of faith and hope from the flags of the UPA and Ukraine. (Donetsk region)
- “Our history is a story of how even in difficult times of war and destruction, Ukraine is being restored thanks to the power of human unity and cultural communication. We are grateful to the Republic of Turkey for the assistance in restoring our lyceum and contribution to our future” (Kyiv region).
- “War is the most terrible thing that could happen to Ukraine. We make a lot of efforts to support our brave soldiers on the front line, as well as their children and internally displaced persons caused by the war. (Volyn, Lviv, Zakarpattia, Khmelnytskyi, Bukovyna).
- “The Road Home” collection is developed with respect for the culture and heritage of the occupied regions of Ukraine. Every detail reflects a close connection with the lost land, which is tinted with blue and unforgettable memories. The collection unites us in the desire to see the sun of freedom shining across the entire territory of Ukraine” (Chernihiv region, Kharkiv region, Zaporizhzhia).
Looking at the models, it is impossible not to notice how skillfully everyday life and beauty are combined in them, prose of life and poetry of emotions, cheerful notes of celebration mixed with sorrow and grief. All collections are permeated with flowers, giving hope for the future, for the long-awaited victory. Today, the embroidered shirt is a symbol that unites very different Ukrainians by political and religious views, but united in the fight against the enemy.
The contest will be judged by a professional jury, and from May 13-15, embroidery enthusiasts and the public will be able to vote for the collection they liked the most on the project’s website https://fashionglobusukraine.com/konkurs. Winners in the nominations of hand and machine embroidery will receive valuable prizes from the competition sponsor company “VELTECH UKRAINE.”
We invite everyone to support the World Vyshyvanka Day on May 16, 2024, through this project: spiritual struggle against the enemy, creative youth, and vocational education institutions in your region of Ukraine.
Contest materials are posted on the project’s website.
On 05/16/2024, the final competition will be broadcast online from the location of the event – the Art Academy of Contemporary Art named after Salvador Dali (Kyiv, 1-3 Viktor Nekrasov Street (North-Syretska)).
