Von der Leyen stated that she respects elections in other parts of the world. However, she will work on reducing Europe’s dependency on other countries.
“We will work very closely with our friends and allies. That is absolutely clear. But it also means that we are building our own strength, we are enhancing the qualities that Europe possesses, and we are working hard to have a strong Europe,” she said.
Previously, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also condemned Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s visit to Moscow and the Russian strike on a children’s hospital in Kyiv. According to her, Russia is betting on Europe’s and the West’s “fatigue” from supporting Ukraine.
