After visiting Kyiv and Moscow, Orban concluded that the intensity of the conflict will increase in the near future. The German Foreign Ministry emphasized that Putin could end the war tomorrow by withdrawing his troops from Ukraine.
Following his visits to Kyiv and Moscow, Viktor Orban concluded that the intensity of the fighting would only increase and called for direct diplomatic contacts with Russia. The German Foreign Ministry responded to the Hungarian’s report.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock is confident that Putin can end the war in Ukraine and withdraw his troops as soon as tomorrow. She made this statement in response to Orban’s remarks about the increasing intensity of the fighting.
Peace Could Come Tomorrow
Baerbock noted that Europe has clearly expressed its desire for peace. “Even more so, the people of Ukraine want peace,” she added.
“Every day there is an offer to talk to Putin, but every other day Putin responds with more violence and more attacks, the latest being an attack on a children’s hospital,” the official recalled.
The German Foreign Minister stressed that Europe must continue to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities. She also believes that the issue of peace is “entirely in Putin’s hands” since he started this war.
“Peace could come tomorrow if Putin withdraws his troops. And we will not stop our peace efforts. That is why it was so important for the peace conference to take place,” Baerbock said.
She also mentioned that she visited West Africa to emphasize that this is about an international order based on rules.
Recall that Orban has faced criticism in the EU for his unauthorized visits to Moscow, Beijing, and his meeting with Trump.
