Sanction news

Before the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of the territory of Ukraine, the political events and the sanctions package become even wider. Important in this regard was the visit of the President of Ukraine Zelenskyy to Europe.

Powerful Britain

Volodymyr Zelenskyy had several meetings in the UK. By the way, nothing was known about his upcoming visit to this country until recently. Firstly, it was required by security, and secondly, his associates say that the organization was carried out almost in the last hours.

Doubts can be raised on it because of several meetings that have taken place with such high-ranking persons as the Prime Minister, the Speaker of Parliament, and even His Majesty. Communication of this rank is always planned and agreed in advance.

In any case, the result of these meetings was an updated sanctions list in which defense enterprises and importers play a predominant role. There are such entities as:

  • CST LLC (Izhevsk);
  • RT-komplekt is a supplier of spare parts for aircraft;
  • Oboronlogistics LLC is a logistics and transportation contractor for the Russian army, as well as the most likely importer of UAV-type Shahed;
  • Universaltransmash is a manufacturer of caterpillar technical equipment;
  • Topaz SPE is a developer of digital and software technologies for the Russian defense industry.

Moreover, sanctions will be applied to some individuals. For example, the list includes Boris Titov, a person who buys vineyards for Putin’s villas, and Svetlana Krivonogikh, a possible millionaire mother of the daughter of the Russian President.

Belgian levers

Regarding the EU summit, persons close to the top report that the most important thing happened behind the cameras, not during official speeches. It is believed that Zelenskyy has a lot of influence on the possible removal of Ursula von der Leyen from the post of head of the European Commission so that Charles Michel from Belgium can get this post.

This is a strong message for the whole of Europe. It says that Ukraine has outgrown the position of a pawn in someone else’s game, and become a participant in it. The situation is caused by the fact that there are no real leaders in Europe who are able to seize the initiative in the confrontation with Russia. At the same time, Ukraine has such forces.

Nuclear issues

Another entity involved in the sanctions lists is the nuclear monopoly Rosatom. This is the second most significant Russian lever of influence on Europe after the oil industry. It is clear that Hungary will traditionally be against such a development of events since Rosatom is now building a new nuclear station on its territory.

On the background of nuclear development, Russia has been luring other countries into long-term cooperation for many years. Now, this cooperation dictates significant influence on political decisions.
