What they are fighting for? The Prime Minister of Estonia explained the essence of what is happening between Russia and Ukraine

Before and during the full-scale invasion of the Russian army into the territory of Ukraine, the Russian authorities declared many reasons that led to such actions. However, the true motives are much deeper and are not so willingly voiced to the Russians, because their reaction would be completely different.

Between the hammer and the anvil

Ukraine is a clear division, a border between Asian and Western culture, history, and values. There is Russia to the right and the EU countries to the left of it.

The Ukrainian territories are significant. Many people live here, even taking into account the Russian scale. In recent times, the balance of power between Asia and Europe has been delicately maintained. The policies and structures of many countries across the world are dependent on who will govern or influence Ukraine.

NATO is the main threat to Asians

That is why, Kyiv’s belonging to Moscow has always been the main factor that ensured the power and allowed the Kremlin to retain its weight in macropolitics. However, when Kyiv started to change course towards Europe, the situation became critical. Russia seems indifferent to the opinions and choices of the Ukrainian people, whether they lean towards the West or the East. Democracy appears to be waning on the eastern side of the continent.

The Asian region of Eurasia has been influenced by Russian propaganda for many years, leading them to believe that Russian aggression is necessary to protect against NATO’s aggression. That is why, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas believes it is important to refute these claims and share the true intentions of the Russian government to the people.

Opposite poles

The war has become a biaxial line of confrontation, at each end of which are the arguments of one of the parties:

  • The motives of the West are opposition to the imperial ambitions of the Russian Federation, which, in fact, has become the last colonialist, unable to find another strategy for the development of the state.
  • Russia’s motives are opposition to the NATO alliance, as it hinders their ability to pursue their desired path. This path seems to be the sole focus of the country’s leadership. Any deviation from it could lead to collapse because the current government has placed everything on this vector of development.

At present, NATO is threatening not a secure life in Russia, but a government that cannot resign naturally and will hold on to its positions to the last drop of blood of ordinary Russians.
