Next week, the leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Kim Jong-un, plans to pay an official visit to Russia. It is expected that the meeting between the North Korean leader and his Russian counterpart will take place in Vladivostok and will last at least two days. The agenda of the event is kept in the strictest confidence, however, according to some reports, the parties, first of all, plan to discuss the prospects for bilateral military cooperation. According to independent analysts, such a prospect will likely cause serious concerns among Ukraine, the European Union and the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A few days ago, in his traditional weekly radio speech, Kim Jong-un rather sharply stated that his country intends to abandon the agreements previously signed with a number of Western states on the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. According to him, Pyongyang reserves the right to \u201cstrengthen military contacts with allies and create a fundamentally new counterbalance to US influence in Southeast Asia in particular and the world in general. According to as yet unconfirmed information, the head of the DPRK intends to approach the Kremlin with a proposal to form a corresponding bloc “Moscow – Pyongyang – Tehran” This initiative is expected to receive approval from both Russia and the Islamic Republic of Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At least, it is Moscow that will give its unconditional consent in this context. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that his country wants to begin joint production of high-precision weapons with the DPRK. In addition, Moscow itself will increase the volume of production of so-called \u201cSoviet caliber\u201d shells. As you know, North Korea is the undisputed regional leader in the sphere of agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSubsequently, Russia may well use the mentioned shells in its war against Ukraine,\u201d said American political commentator William Connolly in a commentary for EURO-ATLANTIC UKRAINE. \u201cIn the event that Pyongyang \u201cfloods\u201d Russia with \u201callied weapons,\u201d we should expect a new aggravation of almost “in all areas of the Russian-Ukrainian confrontation. To put it simply, Putin summoned Kim Jong-un to Vladivostok to discuss the prospects of putting pressure on Kiev.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
