US President Joseph Biden made a speech in which he promised to allocate an additional total of $60 billion to Ukraine. According to preliminary data, this money should be used to repay Kyiv\u2019s foreign loans, as well as social payments. According to independent analysts, Ukrainians will not see even a fraction of the funds mentioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Why? Partly because such an amount is almost unaffordable for the American economy today. Previously, the White House planned to increase defense spending and maintain dollar stability. In addition, Washington began a program of active military and material assistance to Israel, which is effectively at war with its rebellious regions of Gaza and the West Bank. And finally, in early October, the United States began financing several large projects with the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It would seem that the United States does not have \u201cfree\u201d money. However, this is precisely where skeptics are mistaken. According to Biden\u2019s team, this money will be taken from funds that the same White House will allocate for protecting its external borders, for humanitarian operations in Israel and for sponsoring large-scale military-political projects with Taiwan. The amount of the corresponding funds exceeds $100 billion, which, in principle, allows us to talk about the possibility of a new stage in providing part of them to Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cKyiv will certainly receive most of this money,\u201d Biden said meaningfully. \u201cEven if we encounter internal difficulties, our Ukrainian partners will not suffer.\u201d At the same time, Biden himself was probably aware that there would be plenty of such difficulties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Firstly, today in the House of Representatives of Congress, where this plan should be considered, the Republican position is extremely strong. We should not forget that they traditionally vote against financial support for Kyiv. Secondly, the pooling of aid is unacceptable to a number of high-ranking officials in the State Department: they want the bulk of the amount to \u201cgo\u201d to Israel. There is also a third, important factor: Biden\u2019s idea has not yet been finalized into an official document. The preparation of the package will be completed no earlier than October 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
