The United States of America officially turned to Greece with a request to \u201cprovide all possible military assistance to Kyiv.\u201d According to official information, we are talking about the possible supply of 75 thousand artillery shells to Ukraine. At the same time, the deal, on which Washington is placing almost its main bet, could fall through at any moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We should make a reservation right away. In this particular case, the United States acts as a kind of mediator between Athens and the same Kiev. It is assumed that the United States will purchase Greek ammunition with its own money, after which it will transfer the shells to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The catch is that right now Greece is not ready, in a certain sense of the word, to empty its army warehouses. \u201cNeither America in particular, nor NATO as a whole guarantees an urgent replenishment of the Greek army\u2019s arsenals,\u201d European political observer Yiannis Papadonis stated in a special commentary for EURO-ATLANTIC UKRAINE. \u201cIn addition, the declared amount of the operation of $47 million clearly does not correspond to the initial expectations of Athens.\u201d .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let us recall that earlier the leadership of the European Union officially recognized the inability of the United Europe to meet the ammunition needs of the Ukrainian armed forces. A few days ago, France expressed its readiness to sell part of its artillery shells to the Ukrainian army at dumping prices. Lithuania and Latvia also intend to \u201cshare\u201d their arsenals with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It turns out that a deal with Greece against this background may be some kind of \u201cbackup option,\u201d independent analysts believe. They say that certain structures in the United States will count on Athens only if the help of other \u201cdonors\u201d turns out to be insufficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But if Athens, again for economic reasons, refuses to sign the necessary agreement with Washington, this will become a precedent in the modern history of NATO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
