The Polish side advocates for the inclusion of Belarusian companies and individuals in the restrictions as well.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was announced by Polish Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski ahead of the EU Economic Affairs Council meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New Sanctions Will Target More Than Just Russia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>During the meeting, ministers are discussing the preparation of the new sanctions package.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cUndoubtedly, sanctions should also target Belarus. This country often circumvents sanctions. We need to deliver another decisive blow to Russia, including economically,\u201d said Andrzej Domanski.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, Swedish Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson called not to spread the Russian narrative that sanctions do not work. She noted that Russia&#8217;s economy is indeed suffering from the EU&#8217;s restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe know that sanctions are effective. We know that inflation is much higher than the official figures. We know they have a shortage of components, labor, etc. Therefore, the economy is weaker than many claim,\u201d added Elisabeth Svantesson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The 14th Sanctions Package: What We Know<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Earlier, media reported that the new EU sanctions could target Russia&#8217;s \u201cshadow fleet.\u201d Thus, ships transporting Russian oil despite EU restrictions would not be able to enter European ports.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sanctions could also affect LNG imports, particularly concerning Russia&#8217;s LNG projects \u201cArctic\u201d and \u201cMurmansk.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The new sanctions package could affect more than 50 companies outside the EU that are subject to trade restrictions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Take note: On May 13, Joe Biden signed a law prohibiting the import of unirradiated low-enriched uranium produced in Russia or by a Russian legal entity.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The European Union is preparing its 14th package of sanctions against Russia.
