The EU Council will discuss Orb\u00e1n’s behavior and his pro-Russian statements. EU foreign ministers will address Orb\u00e1n’s trips to Russia and China. The European Union supports Ukraine and aims to end the war based on UN principles, not Orb\u00e1n’s proposals.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Western countries understand the need to support Ukraine’s energy sector before winter, so they will discuss Ukraine’s air defense and energy system. Dmitry Kuleba will also join the foreign ministers. Orb\u00e1n accused the EU of inciting war and called for direct diplomatic contacts with Russia. However, Germany reminded that peace depends on Putin. If the Russian dictator withdraws his troops from Ukraine, peace will come tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EU to Review Orb\u00e1n’s Actions On July 22, EU foreign ministers will discuss Viktor Orb\u00e1n’s trips to Russia and China and his pro-Russian statements. This was stated by Josep Borrell in comments to journalists. Part of the meeting will be closed to the public. They will focus on Orb\u00e1n’s “peace mission” and his accusations against the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This is absolutely unacceptable. The EU supports Ukraine and seeks to end this war based on the principles of the UN Charter. We will discuss how member states view the position of a country that currently holds the rotating presidency of the EU. The EU is not ‘pushing for war’; it’s about defending Ukraine, which has been subjected to aggression,” Borrell explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, the EU mentioned that their institutions should not fall into Orb\u00e1n’s trap and that legislation should be used to protect the union.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Europe Plans to Support Ukrainian Energy The West understands that it is necessary to prevent the complete destruction of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and mitigate the damage already done before winter arrives. Borrell said that 70% of Ukraine’s generating capacity has been destroyed, making the situation even more difficult in winter. He will call on member states to provide more support to Ukrainians to rebuild lost capacity or create replacements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the response letter, Charles Michel noted that holding the presidency of the Council does not give the Hungarian prime minister a mandate to act on behalf of the EU.
