He stated that war is not inevitable, but the army has &#8220;sufficient time&#8221; to prepare and avoid conflict. Walker emphasized the need to double the army&#8217;s combat readiness by 2027 and triple it by the end of the decade.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The key point is understanding that three years is an extremely short deadline for preparing for war. It is crucial to &#8220;boost&#8221; the following two areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>the readiness of military personnel, acquiring modern theoretical knowledge and practical experience that is critically necessary during a war;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>activation of the state&#8217;s military-industrial complex, providing the army with the most advanced military equipment, stockpiling ammunition, and so forth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The commander of the UK armed forces is known for his level-headedness. His statements are always devoid of both undue optimism and pessimism, as he does not &#8220;play&#8221; to populism. That&#8217;s why even authoritative politicians often pay attention to his opinions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the main threats facing the UK in the coming years, General Walker named an &#8220;angry&#8221; Russia. He believes that regardless of the outcome of the war in Ukraine, Russia may seek revenge against Western countries for their support of Ukraine. &#8220;No matter how this ends. I think Russia might come out of this war weaker, objectively or absolutely, but it will still be very dangerous and will seek revenge for our assistance to Ukraine,&#8221; Walker stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The General also warned of threats from China and Iran.
