He spoke about the &#8220;inevitability&#8221; of border changes and Romania&#8217;s interests regarding Northern Bukovina, Budjak, and North Maramures. His use of the term &#8220;Malorossiya,&#8221; part of Kremlin rhetoric, particularly stirred outrage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ukraine&#8217;s Reaction: Strong Response from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Georgescu&#8217;s statements, emphasizing that they contradict international law, UN principles, and democratic values. MFA spokesperson Georgiy Tihyi described these words as &#8220;categorically unacceptable&#8221; and fully aligned with Russian propaganda themes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How did Romania react?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs promptly issued a statement reaffirming its support for Ukraine&#8217;s sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders. Romanian diplomats also stressed that their position is based on international law and the country&#8217;s strategic interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who is Kelin Georgescu?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Kelin Georgescu is a far-right politician who ran for the presidency of Romania as an independent candidate, although previously affiliated with the nationalist party &#8220;Alliance for the Union of Romanians.&#8221; He is openly skeptical of Romania&#8217;s NATO membership and has expressed sympathies for Vladimir Putin&#8217;s policies.
