Europe is facing its most serious security challenge since World War II. Once a reliable ally, the USA no longer guarantees protection to Europeans. The Trump administration openly shows its indifference to European security, undermining the 80-year transatlantic bond. Recent events, including the USA’s position at the Munich Security Conference, have shown that America no longer sees the point of keeping troops in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These are not just political statements. This is a reality where the USA could leave the European continent alone against the threat of Russia, giving Putin the freedom to act. European countries, without a unified army, will be defenseless against new challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While Ukrainians continue to fight for their survival, Russia attacks critical infrastructure in Europe, interferes in elections, and destabilizes internal politics. Meanwhile, the USA instead of countering this process, support extremist parties in EU countries, shaking European unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We can no longer afford to be dependent. We must act immediately.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Does Europe have the resources to create its own army? Yes. There is sufficient military potential, technological capabilities, and financial resources. What’s lacking? Political will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has already stated: “It is time to create the armed forces of Europe”<\/strong>. We can no longer hope that America will always be by our side. Europe must learn to defend its borders independently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The largest attacks – both informational and political – are already being observed in Romania, Germany, and a number of other countries. The example of Hungary and Slovakia shows that the Kremlin acts effectively and already has support within Europe. Therefore, Europeans must start thinking about an alternative to NATO today, a necessity that may arise in just a few months.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The party Volt has taken an effective initiative to create a single army capable of defending Europe, with its center actively working in Brussels. They are calling for signatures on a petition demanding the establishment of a unified security unit capable of protecting the Western continent from Russian intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To guarantee the security of EU citizens, Volt urgently demands the following actions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2705 Appointment of a single EU defense minister and removal of the veto right on military decisions to be able to react quickly to threats. In 1950, Europe was already close to creating its own army, but this plan was not realized due to U.S. military guarantees.
