The draft law on the annexation of a part of Ukraine by Romania: another “friendly” neighbor? - Euro-Atlantic Ukraine

The draft law on the annexation of a part of Ukraine by Romania: another “friendly” neighbor?

For any politician, becoming famous means getting an incredible bonus. It seems that this postulate was adopted by the Romanian senator Diana Shoshoake before she called for the annexation of the southern Ukrainian territories in favor of Romania.

What is the draft law about?

The draft law proposed by her refers to the termination of the treaty between Romania and Ukraine on good neighborliness and cooperation. The next point of the draft law is the receiving of territories that once belonged to Romania:

– Southern Bukovyna;

– Hertsa;

– Сahul;

– Bolhrad;

– Izmail;

– part of Maramures;

– Zmiinyi Island.

The main goal of the proposed annexation is the restoration of Romanian culture, religion, and traditions. Diana Shoshoake believes that there is a threat of assimilation of Romanians in these territories, so the territories should be taken away.

The slogans used by Hitler to justify his actions are being actively reborn in the modern world. Russia’s war with Ukraine has stirred up a wasp nest, and the situation is only getting worse. Similar appeals and draft laws once again testify to how important the result of the Russian-Ukrainian confrontation will be.

Marginal lady

Diana Shoshoake is a senator of the Romanian Parliament, as well as a lawyer, and the founder of the S.O.S. party. She is periodically accused of collaborating with Russia.

After the outbreak of war last March, she met with the Russian ambassador. During the meeting, the politicians discussed the position of neutrality of the Romanian side regarding Russia’s intervention in the territory of Ukraine. As time shows, this position is not so neutral.

In response to the senator’s calls, Kyiv proposed imposing sanctions on Diana Shoshoake. How the world and the Romanian government will react to this will be known soon.
